After losing over 100 pounds, Adele revealed that she wasn’t even trying to lose weight on the CBS special Adele One Night Only.

The two-hour special featured a number of interview segments with Oprah Winfrey talking to the 33-year-old singer, with her weight loss one of the main topics.

Surprisingly, the Rolling In the Deep hitmaker said she was really trying to combat her anxiety after splitting with her ex-husband, Simon Konecki.

‘It was about my anxiety mainly. I had the most terrifying anxiety attacks after I left my marriage,’ Adele began.

‘They’d paralyze me completely and made me so confused because I wouldn’t be able to have any control over my body,’ she added.

‘But I knew that I-I was aware of it all happening. It was like I was still very much there while my whole body was just, like, on another planet it felt like, you know? And I’ve always worked out a bit. You know, a couple times a week for my back,’ she added, noting she’s had a bad back since she was a kid.

She started to realize that when she was with her trainer at the gym, she noticed, ‘that I didn’t have any anxiety when I was with him at the gym.’

‘I noticed how much I trusted my trainer’s presence when I was feeling so lost, but also I didn’t have any anxiety when I was out at the gym. It became my time — me having a plan everyday when I had no plans,’ she added.

While many fans reacted positively to the singer’s impressive weight loss, there were no shortage of negative responses, but that didn’t bother her at all.

‘I wasn’t shocked or even fazed by it — my body has been objectified my entire career,’ she said.

‘Am I too big or am I too small, am I hot or not or whatever — I never looked up to anyone because of their body,’ Adele said.

‘I was body positive then and I’m body positive now. But it’s not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies,’ Adele said.

She added that she feels bad if her weight loss, ‘made anyone feel horrible about themselves, but I– that’s not my job,’ adding, ‘I’m trying to sort my own life out.’

She added she doesn’t care if she loses or gains weight, and her favorite place to be is lifting weights, adding that she has gotten up to 160 pounds on her dead lift, and it started at 10 pounds.

She added that she’s also a very good boxer and she has a, ‘left hook that could kill you.’
