Andy Cohen and BFF Anderson Cooper celebrate their double birthday

Andy Cohen and his BFF Anderson Cooper were thrown a surprise birthday party by Sarah Jessica Parker and friends as they celebrated their special day over sprinkled cakes.

In video posted to Andy’s Instagram account on Thursday, the dynamic duo, whose birthdays are one day apart, were presented with the festive confections while out to dinner with pals such as Sarah and her husband Matthew Broderick.

Set to the song Celebrate! by Kool & The Gang, the video begins with their waitress serving the duo their very colorful cakes.

Anderson, who turns 54 on Thursday, shared a jovial embrace with his friend as the cakes were placed before them on the table.

Andy, who celebrated his 53rd birthday on Wednesday, couldn’t have looked any happier by the sight of the festive desert.

The duo were cheered on by friends as they blew out the candle to their cakes, and Sarah captured the whole thing on her phone.

Andy wished his good friend a happy birthday as he posted video to his Instagram account on Thursday.

Andy and Anderson have been friends for years after the two were originally set up on a blind date.

The two never went out after Andy broke Anderson’s ‘cardinal rule’ during a phone call setting up their date – he asked him a question about his famous mother Gloria Vanderbilt.  That, however, didn’t stop them from becoming friends.

Anderson recalled the phone call during a joint appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with Andy, saying he knew within 45 seconds that the future Bravo star was not for him.  

‘So we were set up on a blind date. We had a phone call to set up the date, I was a young reporter at ABC, he was at CBS, and I knew within 45 seconds I was never going on a date with Andy Cohen.

‘I imagined him on like a Bluetooth headset, gesticulating, he was all excited. And he violated my cardinal rule, which is that he asked me about my mom within a minute of talking to him.’

‘I wanted to date the Vanderbilt guy! I was excited!’ Andy said.
