Ant & Dec have reportedly created a new gameshow format that will offer contestants the chance to win a ‘life-changing’ cash prize.

Since finding fame on Byker Grove, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, both 45, have reinvented themselves as the kings of Saturday night television, after creating a number of new gameshows.

According to The Sun, the Geordie duo have created a new concept titled Fortune Favours the Brave with their production company, Mitre Television, which is lined up for an ITV prime-time slot.

An insider told the publication: ‘It promises to be another sure-fire hit for the lads. Whether they host it or not remains to be seen.

‘But either way, it’s very much the lads’ baby and they’ll put their all into making it a success,’ they added.

The source also assured that the exciting new blueprint won’t be a rehash of other formulas.

‘It promises to have their own unique twist and hallmark touches,’ they said, adding that a hunt for contestants has already begun, with producers looking for  ‘confident, dynamic and competitive teams of two with a mix of strengths and personalities’.

Filming is expected to commence in the autumn so it looks likely that the show will be gracing our TV screens sometime next year.

MailOnline has contacted Ant and Dec’s representatives for comment.

Ant and Dec have fronted several gameshows over the year and even created a handful.

In 2002, the pair created their most successful show, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, which has run for 18 seasons to date.

Four years later they created the gambling gameshow PokerFace which was axed after two seasons.

In 2007, they  filmed six episodes for a new American game show, Wanna Bet? but failed to attract enough interest for a second series to be commissioned.

Three years later they replaced Saturday Night Takeaway with a show entitled Ant & Dec’s Push the Button, but ended up reviving SNT the following year.

Their latest gameshow was Red or Black? which launched in 2011 but was axed the following year.

Mitre Productions launched in 2006 with £458,901 to its name after its first year in business. From then, the balance has only risen due to ‘services provided by the director as a television presenter’.

Ant and Dec reportedly made £41,000 a week last year while presenting I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and Saturday Night Takeaway.

The Sun reported that the Geordie duo made around £2.1million in total in the year up until last June, and that figure is predicted to skyrocket with the launch of Fortune Favours the Brave.

Their two businesses – Mitre Holdings and Hurley Productions – which oversee their TV endeavors revealed the figures last month, according to the publication.

Documents reportedly also show the firms have £3.3million in cash at the bank and paid around half a million in tax.

Their total earning figures are likely to be even higher as they don’t take into account other salaries from ITV for shows like Britain’s Got Talent.
