Tottenham are not going to win the league this season but an upturn in fortunes under the 52-year-old is expected.

Conte has gone straight to his tried and tested method.

Perhaps Nuno should have done the same. The Portuguese’s success at Wolves was based on playing a back three but he did not use that formation often in his short stay in north London.

Tottenham line-up vs Vitesse: Lloris; Dier, Romero, Davies; Royal, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Reguilon; Lucas, Kane, Son.
