‘I got it there, because I knew there wouldn’t be a long wait’: American comedian Arj Barker takes a dig at Byron Bay anti-vaxxers as he reveals he’s received the Covid vaccine

American comedian Arj Barker took a dig at Byron Bay anti-vaxxers during a live TV appearance on Thursday.

The 46-year-old was being interviewed on Channel Nine’s Today show, when host Allison Langdon asked how he was staying safe during the Covid pandemic.

‘Well, obviously the basics are getting vaccinated if and when you can. It hasn’t been the quickest thing in this country but I did get my vaccine,’ he said.

‘I went to Byron Bay and got it there because I knew there wouldn’t be a long wait at the clinic. I was the only one there,’ Arj joked.

‘They said, “Do you want them both now? You want some Pfizer takeaway? Take it home with you”.’

During the interview, Arj also discussed how he has been adjusting to life following his divorce from his wife Whitney.

‘I’m fine. We are still great friends. In fact, it is very peaceful. Almost beautiful in a way,’ he said.

He joked: ‘The only thing I miss is marriage counselling because, well, why wouldn’t I? Scheduled arguing? Only $180 a week? Sign me up for that.’

Arj unexpectedly announced he was getting a divorced on the Today show back in January.

During the interview, host Karl Stefanovic innocently asked if his wife, Whitney, was joining him on tour in Australia.

'Obviously the basics are getting vaccinated if and when you can. It hasn't been quickest thing in this country but I did get my vaccine. 'I went to Byron Bay and got it there because I knew there wouldn't be a long wait at the clinic. I was the only one there,' he joked

In a surprising moment, Arj confirmed they were no longer together, before offering a hilarious account of their recent separation.

He replied that he’d been married to Whitney, who is Australian, for three years.

But things took a turn when he said: ‘Karl, you may relate to this. Marriages go through so many different phases and I feel like we’re past this sort of “I love you, I need to be with you all the time” [phase].

‘And now we’re entering a phase where we’re like, “It’s so cool”… how do I put it? It’s like we’re rediscovering our individuality. Oh wait, divorce, that’s it.’
