Arsenal 'open bidding for James Maddison as Leicester sent swap deal offer'

Arsenal have made an opening player-plus-cash offer for Leicester attacking midfielder James Maddison, according to reports. Mikel Arteta and Edu are both in agreement that Maddison ticks several boxes for the Gunners and acquiring a playmaker of his quality can help elevate the team to the next level.

Yet Leicester remain in a strong position when keeping Maddison is concerned.

They can offer the player European football, something that is not currently available in north London.

Not only that but Maddison remains central to Brendan Rodgers’ plans and as shown in previous negotiations with Manchester United for Harry Maguire, Leicester do not give in to pressure.

Football.London claim Leicester have been proposed a player-plus-cash offer by intermediaries, who are trying to broker a deal for Arsenal.

Arsenal were interested in a permanent swoop for the Norwegian but he was set to be given a clean slate at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti.

The club remain interested in his services if Real Madrid make him available this summer.

Maddison recently celebrated the birth of his first child.

It’s understood he would be open to making the move to Arsenal.
