Arsenal transfer chief Edu could make seven signings for Mikel Arteta this summer

It could well be a busy summer for Arsenal, with the Gunners targeting seven new additions ahead of the new Premier League season. The north London side had a disappointing campaign last time out, finishing eighth, so Edu and Mikel Arteta will be hoping the new signings will help them get them back into Europe.

Arsenal have already confirmed the signature of one player, as left-back Nuno Tavares joined the club from Benfica earlier this week.

He is expected to come in as a back-up for Kieran Tierney, who has established himself as one of the Gunners’ key players.

The Athletic is reporting that six other players are wanted by Edu, Arsenal’s technical director, before the window slams shut in September.

A goalkeeper is wanted by the north London club, as they look to replace the outgoing Mat Ryan.

Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale has been someone that has been linked with the club, to provide competition for Bernd Leno.

As well as Sambi Lokongo, Arsenal are reportedly keen on another midfielder – someone who is more experienced that can partner Thomas Partey.

This is due to Granit Xhaka’s potential departure, with the Swiss potentially making a move to Serie A with Jose Mourinho.

Last but not least, the Gunners want another playmaker, alongside Emile Smith-Rowe.

Martin Odegaard, who was on loan from Real Madrid last season, has returned to his parent club and looks unlikely to make a permanent switch to the London club.

Houssem Aouar is a player that has frequently been linked over the last couple of summers, but reports now say that interest has cooled.

If they can secure all seven of the signing they are after, it will be a busy couple of months for Arteta and Edu.

They will be targeting a return to the top six next season, having missed out on European football for the first time in 26 years.

We are yet to see how this will might affect how they do their business throughout this window.
