    You may not have heard of Lucinda Nicholas, but the Australian former beauty pageant queen is making a name for herself in Bollywood.

    Reflecting on her career this week, the 28-year-old spoke about the differences between Aussie and Indian culture and even admitted she subtly changes her appearance to ‘look more Indian’ to get better roles.

    The former Miss World South Australia told The Daily Telegraph: ‘Sometimes I would wear brown contact lenses to make me look more Indian I guess you could say.’

    Lucinda is of Middle Eastern and European heritage and has played characters with English, South Indian and Austrian backgrounds.

    ‘A lot of foreigners become successful by really taking on the language and Indian culture,’ she said.

    She added about India: ‘People think it’s so different to Australia but once you live there and you’re a part of the culture you realise how similar we all are as humans no matter what race or religion.’

    Lucinda hails from Adelaide but spent six years living in Mumbai, before coming back to her native Australia before the coronavirus pandemic hit. 

    She described India as a ‘second home’ and even speaks Hindi after working hard to learn the language. 

    Lucinda has appeared in Bollywood films including Guest in London. 

    Last year, she told DeMode that she is incredibly ‘proud’ of herself for learning Hindi.

    ‘But if there was one thing I am particularly proud of it is learning a foreign language (Hindi) which is a language I had never been exposed to before moving to India,’ she said.

    She added that she loves being able to immerse herself in different cultures around the world as a model and actress.

    ‘My greatest accomplishment is being able to travel and experience different cultures and work in all different parts of the world,’ she said.

    ‘My greatest accomplishment was being in my first ever Hindi television as a lead actress.’
