AZ vaccine tragedy: BBC journalist's husband calls for jab choice after wife's blood clots

Gareth Eve’s wife Lisa Shaw, a well-known BBC Radio journalist, died as a result of blood clots in her brain after she received the AstraZeneca vaccine. Mr Eve has called for people to be given a choice of which vaccine they take and added that the AstraZeneca vaccine rollout should be “put on ice” until its side effects are better understood.

Mr Eve said regaridng his wife’s attitude to receiving the vaccine: “I think she was quite positive and excited about it

“She was certainly positive about the idea of things going back to normal, to be able to give her mother a hug and things like that.

“Her mother used to joke that Lisa followed the rules very closely, she was a bit of a stickler.

“She did not hug her mother and things like that.

“She was looking forward to getting the vaccine so those things could come back.”
