The popular broadcaster has consistently been accused of bias, sparking a furious reaction from politicians and the British public as it comes under intense pressure. But the issue of Brexit has seen a surge in complaints over recent months and years. A number of audience surveys carried out on behalf of the BBC have revealed a hugely negative reaction to its coverage.
In addition, several reviews of BBC News and current affairs by media regulator Ofcom mention “dissatisfaction with the BBC’s coverage of Brexit”.
Now leading Brexiteer and Tory MP Sir John Redwood has sparked a new BBC bias row on Twitter, sparking a furious reaction from many towards the Corporation.
He tweeted: “The Today programme joining in with the bizarre BBC view that intense and often unfair competition to UK farms from the EU is fine but free trade with the rest of the world will be damaging.
“Can they not see their own bias in these contradictions?”
Several people on Twitter agreed with the views of Mr Redwood and launched a furious attack against the BBC.
One person replied: “What else would expect from the BBC? We all know they’re pro EU.
“I don’t understand why they’re called the British Broadcasting Company when they’re totally anti-British.”
Several others backed GB News – the 24/7 television news channel headed by former BBC political veteran Andrew Neil – to avoid the impartiality rows that have dodged the Beeb.

Last week, Tory MP Sir John accused the BBC of “ignoring” and “belittling” England following the fallout from the Lord Dyson inquiry.
He attacked the broadcaster for “fanning division” in the UK and claimed the broadcaster stands against the “the pro-Brexit majority”.
Writing on his blog, Sir John said: “The BBC is meant to be a UK institution.
“It should help create a sense of common culture and shared democratic conversation for citizens anywhere in our Union who want that. Instead in recent years, the BBC has fanned division.
“It has helped nationalist movements in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland gain more voice for protest and grievance.
“It has stood for the continuing submission of our country to government from Brussels against the pro-Brexit majority.
“It has belittled and ignored England, perhaps with a view to building an English backlash to nationalisms elsewhere in our Union as the SNP and others want.”
He added: “The BBC’s treatment of England is a disgrace. It is as if our country did not exist.
“We are treated in England to a regular diet of commentary on the words and deeds of the SNP government in Scotland.
“The BBC gives Scotland its own Scottish news then muddles the national newscast with English news because it cannot bring itself to have an English news to match the Scottish news.”
The BBC had issued new guidance to its staff on social media usage in a move to force all staff to maintain impartiality.
Last year, employees were told not to “express a personal opinion on matters of public policy, politics, or controversial subjects”.
The announcement followed the pledge from BBC director-general Tim Davie to impose new social media rules.
He told staff in September: “The BBC should not come from a platform from when there’s an assumed point of view.
“It’s not just about left and right, it’s different people.”
