Boris Johnson press conference: PM to hit back at EU's Brexit threats after bitter G7 rows

The Prime Minister will answer questions from the media following the conclusion of the three-day International meeting at Carbis Bay in Cornwall.

Mr Johnson had been hoping the G7, the first in-person meeting of the elite group since the UK left the EU, would give him the opportunity to present Global Britain to the rest of the world.

But Brexit rows have overshadowed the event, with fallouts between the UK and EU leaders dominating the weekend.

The Prime Minister will hold a press conference at the close of the summit at 2pm.

Coronavirus briefings televised regularly from Downing Street through the coronavirus pandemic have become popular viewing with the public, but today’s briefing is unlikely to be on in most households across the country.

While available to view on TV channels such as BBC News and Sky News, the timing means the press conference also clashes with England’s opening match in Euros 2020.

At 2pm Gareth Southgate’s men will kick off against Croatia in the international tournament.
