According to the NHS, blepharitis can be caused by bacteria living on the skin or a skin condition like dermatitis.

Symptoms include sore eyelids, as well as itchy eyes and a ‘gritty’ feeling in the eyes.

It can be treated by cleaning the eyelids daily, as well as with prescribed antibiotic creams or drops.

While blepharitis isn’t usually considered serious, the condition can lead to conjunctivitis, dry eyes and cysts if not treated properly.

During a flare up, Bradley revealed he can suffer from swollen eyes, with his eyes usually becoming itchy and red.

News he’ll be in need of future surgery comes after Bradley revealed he had given up alcohol and fatty foods following a stark warning from his doctor.

It was spurred on by a conversation with his cardiologist who told Bradley he needed to ‘get fit’ after realising his cholesterol levels were too high.

The TV star’s father died from heart disease when he was 59 years old, with Bradley admitting turning 60 was a milestone from him as he always had a ‘hang-up’ about his dad’s age.

‘I had a hang-up because of my father, Daniel, died at the age of 59. I had it in the back of my ming that I just had to get past my dad’s age,’ he told The Sun on Sunday.

‘So, turning 60 was a bit of a milestone… I was a time bomb. I produced too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer. My heart guy said, “Look Brad, you need to get fit.”‘

As a result, Brad tightened up his diet and turned to boxing to work on his fitness, with the former Coronation Street star revealing he’s since lost a stone-and-a-half.

Earlier this month, it was reported Bradley is one of the richest men on television after earning £1million in a year.
