    Carol Vorderman has admitted to loving being in her sixties as she reveals she sticks a ‘virtual middle finger’ up at people who think she doesn’t dress for her age.  

    The television personality turned 60 last December, and spoke to OK! Magazine about turning the milestone age: ‘I love being this age. I can’t be doing with people who aren’t nice and I’ve never cared what people think. 

    ‘I have totally embraced 60,’ she went on, ‘You can use it as an excuse and say “Oh well, it’s my age.”‘

    She then went onto admit that she  has always been the rebellious type, and has never cared what other people think. 

    The former Countdown star also said she has been a ‘free spirit’ her whole life and questioned what the word ‘should’ meant back in her youth. 

    ‘Mischief is my middle name and I do what I like. I’ve always been a bit of a rebel. I’ve never understood why people conform because society dictates it.

    ‘I’ve always been a free spirit and questioned what the world “should” means. I was told you should get married at 20 because that’s what girls do.  I said “I’m not doing that” and became an engineer.’

    She went on to describe the time when she was 39 in 2000 she wore a short dress to the BAFTAS. 

    Carol said that the BBC then did a whole show asking whether a woman of 39 should wear a dress above the knee. 

    She went on to admit that it is still the same today, and that she still has comments on whether she should be wearing something which society deems as more ‘age appropriate.’ 

    Referring to a picture in leggings she posted on Instagram, she said that someone had commented to ask whether she should be wearing them at the age of 60.

    Carol then revealed that she is currently single, and that she likes it that way. 

    She also admitted that she loves being out in the clean air while hiking, and that her priorities have changed from her children to fitness now they are older. 

    Her lust for life shone threw as she said she said that she sometimes wakes up laughing she is that happy.  

    She also spoke to the publication about fronting her 22nd Pride of Britain Awards ceremony and is being joined by co-host Ashley Banjo for the first time. 

    Carol praised the awards for being ‘wonderful’ and she admitted she does not have a favourite winner’s story.
