Cate Blanchett’s former trophy home in Sydney’s ritzy Hunters Hill has been sold for a loss of $750,000 despite surging house prices in the Harbour City.
The home was sold by investment banker Chris Barter and his wife, Katrina, to expatriate lawyer Brooke Lindsay and her partner, Marcus Hill, for $17.25million.
The Barters had owned the historic home, named Bulwarra, for just three years after purchasing it from the Hollywood actress for $18million in 2017, reports Domain.

The mansion boasts luxurious interiors and open-plan living, with a focus on bringing the outdoors indoors.
The spacious property also has five bedrooms, including a stunning master wing complete with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.
The 1877 Gothic sandstone architecture is accompanied by expansive views of the city courtesy of a rooftop pool.

Cate and her husband, theatre director Andrew Upton, are believed to have made the property one of the most eco-friendly in the country during their renovations.

The waterfront home was first bought by the Hollywood couple in 2005 for $10.2million, but was later developed extensively.
The pair bought the property after looking at 20 other mansions across the eastern suburbs and lower north shore, according to reports at the time.
After they sold in 2017, it was put up for lease for $10,000 a week.

Cate, Andrew, 54, and their four children, Dashiell, 18, Ignatius, 12, Roman, 16, and Edith, five, are now based in Britain.
The family have one property remaining in Sydney, an Elizabeth Bay apartment they purchased in 2013 for $1.92million.
