Channel Nine reveals programming lineup for 2022 – including new show hosted by MasterChef favourite


Channel Nine has confirmed Married At First Sight will be returning in 2022.

With coronavirus restrictions currently in place around NSW, it was feared that the reality TV show was going to be axed.

However, during Nine’s Upfronts on Wednesday, the network revealed the series will go ahead and so will the weddings, honeymoons, provocative dinner parties and confronting commitment ceremonies.

The new season will see the return of Puerto Rican sexologist Alessandra Rampolla, and veteran experts John Aiken and Mel Schilling.

MAFS is produced by Endemol Shine Australia, and filming for the new season has already commenced.

After an explosive return to television in 2021, Celebrity Apprentice Australia will also be returning to Nine next year.

Lord Alan Sugar will return as boss as a new selection of celebrities battle it out to avoid the firing line.

Author and athlete Turia Pitt will join comedy radio duo Will and Woody as the first three celebrities announced to star on the program.

The Block will also be making a return to Nine, with a surprising new twist.

For the first time, the series will head to the bush to transform a set of country houses into someone’s great Australian dream.

Earlier this year it was reported that producers were scooping out a new location for the series outside of Victoria, with wild rumours Byron Bay was being considered.

Meanwhile, the network is hoping new cooking contest Snackmasters will offer a bit of evening entertainment.

Hosted by Masterchef’s Poh Ling Yeow and Scott Pickett, the new series, based on a British format will air later this year.

Shot during lockdown, each episode will see two professional chefs in competition to recreate popular brand-name snacks.

A new batch of sexy young singles will light up our screens later this year, when Love Island Australia returns for a new season.

Filmed in Byron Bay, Sophie Monk will return as host, while comedian Stephen Mullan will lead his voice as the show’s new narrator. 

Other shows confirmed to be returning are Lego Masters, The Hundred with Andy Lee, Magda Szubanski’s The Weakest Link and Australian Ninja Warrior.
