Chelsea's four Erling Haaland alternatives if Dortmund continue to reject transfer bids

With Borussia Dortmund reportedly rejecting Chelsea’s opening offer for Erling Haaland and insisting the striker is not for sale, the Blues may have to look elsewhere for a new striker.

Despite signing Timo Werner and Kai Havertz last summer, Thomas Tuchel would still like to add another attacker to his squad so, if Dortmund stay true to their promise that Haaland won’t be sold, Express Sport takes a look at four striking alternatives for the current Champions League holders.

    Romelu Lukaku

A player that Chelsea know well, Lukaku was at the club for three years but made just 15 appearances for the Blues.

Rather than being given game time during his first spell in West Brom, he was shipped out on loan to West Brom and Everton.

Since leaving Stamford Bridge in 2011, he has scored 128 league goals in 248 appearances over the last seven seasons.

His spell at Manchester United was underwhelming but, since he signed for Inter Milan in 2019, he has become one of the best strikers in the world.

The Belgian scored 24 goals as Inter won Serie A last season and, with the Belgian’s future uncertain due to the Italian club’s financial problems, he could be purchased on the cheap this summer.

    Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Another player who Chelsea fans will be familiar with, having played against him multiple times in the Premier League over the last few seasons, Calvert-Lewin had a superb season for Everton last year.

The England international bagged 21 goals in all competitions last season and flourished under Carlo Ancelotti, who he has credited with improving his game ten-fold.

However, the Italian has now left the Merseyside club and Calvert-Lewin may now look to move on too, and playing under another great coach like Tuchel could be the perfect next step for the 24-year-old.

The price Chelsea would have to pay Everton for his services would probably be at the top end of their budget though, which could see them pursue more affordable targets.

    Tammy Abraham

A player that would cost Chelsea absolutely nothing this summer is Abraham. He’s been massively out of favour under Tuchel, but could he be brought back into the fold next season?

The 23-year-old made just three league starts after Tuchel was appointed as boss, and failed to make the squad for their FA Cup final defeat to Leicester.

However, with Olivier Giroud looking like he’ll move on this summer, it gives Abraham the opportunity to play himself into contention in pre-season.

He scored 15 goals in 34 league appearances during the 2019/20 campaign, proving that he can score at this level, but will he be given the chance at Chelsea next season?
