Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel changes transfer priority with new demand to Marina Granovskaia

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel now reportedly sees Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as his best striking option in the transfer market this summer. The Blues had a player-plus-cash deal turned down by Borussia Dortmund for Erling Haaland earlier this week.

Haaland had been Chelsea’s top target and, despite having their first approach turned down, they are reportedly ready to smash their club record to land Haaland.

However, he could cost up to £150million, which could be an expensive deal for the Blues, seeing as they spent over £100m on both Kai Havertz and Timo Werner last summer.

So, according to The Sun, Tuchel now sees Lewandowksi as an alternative to the Norwegian and is set to make a £50m bid for the Pole.

The Bayern striker, who has also been linked with Manchester City, broke Gerd Muller’s record for most Bundesliga goals in a season, as he scored his 41st of the season on the division’s final day.

At 32-years-old, Lewandowski wants one last big move, according to the report, and would be interested in a move to the Premier League.

As for Haaland, he may still be interested in a move to Chelsea, expressing his desire to win the Champions League one day – something Chelsea have just done.

“’I have been thinking about the Champions League my whole life, wanting to play there,” Haaland added.

“So maybe it gives me one percent extra motivation when I go out on the pitch with the anthem.

“That’s my big dream: to win the Champions League one day. Hopefully, I can lift that trophy and that really would be, well, amazing.”

Tuchel has previously laid out his intentions to become more than just a short-term manager at Chelsea and signing Haaland would highlight his long-term vision.

After their Champions League win, the Blues boss said: “We have to check with the owner if this is his plan, I think it’s possible.

“It’s always possible because the foundation is very, very strong.

“If we really want to build something, I’m all in, I can tell you. And I’m happy to talk about it and discuss it. If our beliefs match, we go from there.”
