Chelsea's unstoppable XI with Erling Haaland and three other transfers

Chelsea are looking to be busy in the transfer market this season in a bid to consolidate and build on their remarkable Champions League win last season. It has been reported Erling Haaland is close to finalising a deal, and the Blues have also been linked to big names such as Gianluca Mancini, Declan Rice and Barcelona superstar Antoine Griezmann.

So, Express Sport will now take a look at how the Blues could line up next season with this quartet in their ranks.

    Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy

Arriving in the summer of 2020 for £22million, Mendy has taken over the number one spot from Kepa Arrizabalaga.

He played a trusted role in Chelsea’s resurgence to form under Thomas Tuchel in the second half of last season.

The Frenchman equalled the record of most clean sheets in a Champions League season, including in the final when Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0.

    Midfield: Mount, Rice, Kante

N’Golo Kante arguably walks into any side, a rock in midfield, he picks himself. Rice, 22, had a fantastic Euros campaign, notably against Italy in the final. He produced six successful tackles and completed four successful dribbles, both highest in the team.

Rice would ideally replace Jorginho who has been continuously linked with a move to Serie A, however West Ham would unlikely let him leave for less than £70m.

Mason Mount was Chelsea’s player of the season last year, and the 22-year-old only looks set to continue his rise to stardom. Playing just ahead of Kante and Rice could link the whole XI together.

    Forwards: Haaland, Griezmann, Werner

Griezmann, 30, could revive his career at Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, still a player in his prime, he would be the engine that links together Haaland and Timo Werner.

Werner was a marquee signing for Chelsea last year and had a disappointing season, however, the German has unquestionable bags of talent, and will look to prove his critics wrong this year.

Adding Haaland will turn Chelsea into a global threat, without question. The striker is hotly tipped to become the next major footballing superstar, and with Griezmann, Mount and Werner around him, his goal ratio may reach even scarier heights.

Every Chelsea player who could leave

Emerson Palmieri: The defender appeared twice for Chelsea in the league last season and doesn’t look a part of Tuchel’s plans.

Kurt Zouma: Zouma is reportedly going to be included in a player-cash deal for Mancini.

Willy Caballero: The ageing goalkeeper has been a hit with the fans, but doesn’t look set to be with the Blues next season.

Tammy Abraham: To sign all these players some will have to go, and Abraham simply looks surplus to requirements under Tuchel.
