Chronic pain can undermine quality of life by impeding your ability to perform even basic tasks. What may come as a surprise is that chronic pain can be worse when the weather gets warmer, osteopath Anisha Joshi revealed on ITV’s This Morning. Fortunately, there are proven ways to alleviate chronic pain. Joshi recommends her patients three key dietary items.

Flax seeds are also packed with omega-3 fatty acids.

The pain-easing benefits of the plant-based food are attributed to their anti-inflammatory effects.

“Fifty-seven percent of the total fatty acids in flaxseed oil is alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), one of three omega-3 fatty acids,” explained the Arthritis Foundation.

In a study where volunteers consumed flaxseed oil for four weeks, the ALAs significantly decreased pro-inflammatory compounds.

Joshi also recommended natural supplements for countering chronic pain symptoms.

Supplementing with ginger spice has been shown to have a remedial effect on chronic pain.

It is typically used to treat digestive problems, flu and nausea, but could also be helpful against muscle pain caused by exercise, research suggests.

Holland and Barrett cited one study that found eating two grams of ginger a day for eleven days reduced muscle pain in people doing exercise.
