Coronation Street SPOILER: Tyrone Dobbs learns his abusive ex Kirsty Soames has died after she was imprisoned for attacking him
Tyrone Dobbs will receive shocking news during Coronation Street next week, as he’s told his abusive ex-girlfriend Kirsty Soames has died.
The mechanic, played by Alan Halsall, 38, dated Kirsty, played by Natalie Gumede, 37, until 2013 when she was sent to prison for perjury.
Kirsty claimed that Tyrone had beaten her after she fell down the stairs, when in fact she had been the one abusing him, and finally confessed to her crimes as her then-beau was wrongfully facing jail.

Since the verdict, the character has not appeared on the show but was referenced to on camera when she sent Tyrone abusive texts after leaving prison in 2014.
In the last update to Kirsty’s plot line, the former police officer was said to be living abroad in 2017, with Tyrone continuing to raise their daughter.
On next week’s episode of the show, Tyrone looks gobsmacked when a police officer arrives on his doorstep to inform him his ex-girlfriend is dead.
The single father then confides the news in his ex-fiancée Fiz and they begin to plan how to break the news to Ruby.

Earlier this year, Fiz and Tyrone split after he had an affair with Alina Pop, played by Ruxandra Porojnicu.
After the two characters kissed, Tyrone dumped his long-term partner and declared his love for Alina.
Talking about the storyline and the backlash she has received, Ruxandra admitted she was concerned soap fans would ‘hate’ her.

She told The Sun: ‘Fiz and Tyrone are such an amazing and iconic couple, so when I found out what was planned I was surprised. And my first thought was, everyone is going to hate me.’
Ruxandra added that she was ‘torn’ over the storyline as it is a ‘great opportunity’ but as a viewer she is ‘gutted’ over the storyline due to her love for Tyrone and Fiz.
She added: ‘The way the storyline has gone I’ve found the reactions to be quite mixed, which I was not expecting. The way it has been written created a good environment for Alina to be accepted by the audience. Well, some of them.

‘But I’ve also had people saying, “Go back to your own country”, and calling me a homewrecker. I don’t take those comments seriously.’
Alan told the Daily Star over the storyline: ‘Tyrone is quite a simple fella. Future thinking isn’t his strong point. He gets his head turned by an attractive girl and it’s exciting for him.
‘I don’t think Tyrone will get away with it. I think he’ll be portrayed as the bad lad, and rightly so. I’m sure I’ll get a clip around the ear in Tesco a few times for this.’
The actor revealed that he was ‘shocked’ at the change in his character, but added that it came from his own ‘selfish’ reasons.
He said: ‘I was thinking, “Oh, I don’t want that – I love working with Jennie every day”. Myself and Jennie have known each other for 20 years and honestly there’s not a day goes by that I don’t love working with that woman.’
