The Coronation Street cast are ‘at war’ with the show’s bosses, a new report says.

According to The Sun on Thursday, some soap stars are ‘threatening to opt out’ of promoting food, beverages and other products in scenes, over claims they are paid as little as ‘£100 pounds a month’ while ITV producers ‘rake in tens of thousands’.

ITV has signed deals with brands such as Costa Coffee and phone network EE, with the Corrie cast required to either pose or incorporate the products into scenes.

‘It’s an absolute joke – it’s insulting. Bosses are raking in tens of thousands for deals while they [the cast] are getting the off-cuts,’ a source reportedly told The Sun.

The insider went on to allege that the disgruntled stars are ‘threatening to opt out’ of flogging the products, especially when they can earn higher figures through Instagram or their own deals obtained by their personal management.

MailOnline has reached out to ITV, which airs the iconic British drama, for comment.

It comes after claims ITV bosses have banned Coronation and Emmerdale cast members from joining OnlyFans.

A previous report by The Sun claimed that executives issued new rules that will allow their stars to cash in on their fame, but will not tolerate advertising ‘adult entertainment’ which could bring the channel into disrepute.

The move reportedly will also allow cast members to post paid advertisements – but only with the producers’ blessing – to prevent them from quitting the shows because they make more money online.

The list of goods which are banned also includes alcohol, gambling, tobacco, vaping, fireworks and financial products.

MailOnline contacted Emmerdale and Coronation Street for comment at the time.

Prior to the report, Sarah Jayne Dunn lost her job on Hollyoaks over an OnlyFans row.

The actress – who reportedly earned a whopping £7,200 in just a week after joining the X-rated subscription service – will no longer appear on the show as character Mandy Richardson after discussions with producers.

A spokesperson for the Channel 4 soap said that they ‘take their responsibility to their young audience very seriously’ and were ‘very sad to see her go’.

Sarah has played the role of Mandy on-off since 1996.

Last month, Sarah explained her decision to join the website popular with celebrities such as Lottie Moss and Kerry Katona in a bid to ‘take back control’ after years of doing lads’ mags.

Sarah defended having an account on the 18+ subscription site, insisting that her content is no different to photos of her which are posted on Instagram or appear in lads’ mags.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the actress argued: ‘It’s the kind of pictures I’ve done all my life!’ and reiterated that it wasn’t her decision to leave the Channel 4 soap.

Asked why she chose OnlyFans over Hollyoaks, Sarah insisted: ‘That wasn’t really the decision that I made.

Protecting the brand: It's claimed the ITV soaps have informed stars what they can flog and promote online so that it doesn't reflect badly on the channel (Pictured on Instagram: Corrie star Sair Khan). There is no suggestion Sair has expressed an interest in joining OnlyFans

‘The idea was to launch OnlyFans and take back some power and control over my images, what I create, where I put them, and put them onto the platform.

‘I’ve [been] thinking long and hard about this for a good few months, I looked at lots  of different options, and OnlyFans because it’s such a big, established site, and it’s run really really well, and there’s lots of different content on there.

‘It’s an 18 plus website, because you have to be over 18 to get on there, but actually the content can be whatever you want.’
