Covid hotspots MAPPED: Three quarters of areas see rise in cases – where are they?

    Outside of the north west, similarly sharp increases have been recorded in Staffordshire Moorlands, jumping from 5.1 to 81.3, Bracknell Forest in Berkshire from 20.4 to 94.7, and Three Rivers in Hertfordshire, from 15 to 71.8.

    Jumps have also been recorded north of the border in Scotland.

    South Ayreshire has seen the number per 100,000 more than double, surging to 158.1 from 46.2.

    In Edinburgh, cases have risen from 65.9 to 134.3, and in Angus cases have jumped from 21.5 to 87.8.

    Rising trends are less clear in Wales and Northern Ireland currently, with half of the local areas in Wales (11 of 22) recording a slight rise in the latest figures, together with five of the 11 areas in Northern Ireland.
