Cristiano Ronaldo sends transfer message as Portugal win Euro 2020 opener

There has been speculation in recent weeks regarding whether the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will leave Turin this summer in search of a new challenge.

Juventus endured a poor campaign after scraping fourth place in Serie A and the prolific forward has been named as one player who could be on the move in the coming weeks.

Ronaldo’s current contract with the Italian giants is set to expire in 2022 and he was quick to set the record straight on his future when speaking ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2020 opener.

“I have been playing at the highest level for many years, this doesn’t faze me,” he said.

“Maybe if I was 18 or 19 I might have had some sleepless nights, but I’m 36. Whatever comes will be for the best regardless of staying at Juve or being transferred.

“The crucial thing now is the Euros, it is my fifth Euros, but for me it’s like my first Euros. We want to play a good match with good thoughts from the first to the last match.”

Returns to former clubs Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United have both been discussed as possible options. No matter where he ends up, though, you can expect to see the same levels of determination to influence the scoreline as shown in the early stages of his career.
