Dan Ewing reveals the TRUTH about how much he was paid to appear on SAS Australia

He’s one of the most divisive participants to appear on SAS Australia this season. 

And Dan Ewing, 36, has broken his silence on rumours about how much he was paid for his controversial appearance.  

Speaking to Triple M’s Moonman In The Morning on Tuesday, the Home And Away star confirmed that his salary was higher than the $50 -70K figure being reported by the media – but refused to divulge the exact amount.

‘I wouldn’t have done it for what was reported, put it that way,’ he said.

When quizzed on whether his pay-cheque was ‘higher or lower’ than that of co-star Koby Abberton, who pocketed a whopping $100,000 from Channel Seven, Dan cryptically responded: ‘It could be right on.’ 

Elsewhere in his interview, Dan revealed the truth about why he kept referring to himself in third person while speaking to producers on SAS Australia.

Host Lawrence Mooney played a clip from a Dan’s introductory video package, which shows the thespian bizarrely referring to himself as ‘Dan Ewing’. 

‘This is Dan Ewing. What does Dan Ewing do when he is sleep-deprived? What does Dan Ewing do when his back’s against the wall?’ he said in the clip. 

Dan laughed, responding: ‘I refuse to believe your listeners believe that for a second’, before blaming the show’s producers for taking his statements out of context.  

The truth! Elsewhere in his interview, Dan revealed the truth about why he kept referring to himself in third person while speaking to producers on SAS Australia – explaining that his statements were taken out of context   

‘[Producers asked me] a lot of questions about Home And Away’s fanbase. Obviously, it changed my life, changed my career,’ he explained. 

‘[During filming, producers] were saying ‘So, what would your fans think of you on the course?’ So I answered, ‘I think they know me as Heath Braxton… but it’s going to be interesting for them [to see], what will Dan Ewing [do]?’  

Dan also insisted his ‘villain’ edit was a ‘missed opportunity’ for the producers, who could have instead focussed upon his mental health battle. 

Dan said he believes a a storyline about mental health could have encouraged ‘blokes at the pub’ who watch the show to speak openly about their own emotional struggles.
