Royal expert: Doria Ragland should walk Meghan down the aisle
The 64-year-old has just welcomed her daughter Meghan’s second child to the world, with Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor born on Friday in California. Lilibet joins her two-year-old brother Archie Harrison in Meghan’s family, alongside their father Prince Harry. Doria is well known for her close relationship to daughter Meghan, and her son-in-law Harry, who has previously spoken of the affection he has for his mother-in-law.
The former make-up artist has remained a constant beacon of support for the couple, particularly after their landmark decision to quit their senior royal duties last year – and move across the pond to the US.
As well as a close relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Doria reportedly enjoys a sweet connection with TV legend Oprah Winfrey, who interviewed Harry and Meghan for CBS in March.
During their interview, the Sussexes unleashed a series of allegations towards the Royal Family, including claims over racism and their mental health.
It even led Harry to question his brother Prince William and father Prince Charles, who he described as being “trapped” inside the monarchy.

While speaking on the broadcast, Oprah and Meghan both admitted that they had wanted to have an interview together but previous requests had been shut down by the Firm.
Yet, prior to the interview, Oprah was forced to speak out after speculation grew that she had “bribed” Doria into getting her daughter to be questioned by the broadcaster.
In February she said she “loved the story” that saw claims of Oprah trying to get Doria into her confidence by giving her “gifts”.
She added: “Do you know what the gifts were?

“For lunch, we had dessert with kumquats and she said, ‘I love kumquats,’ and I said, ‘I have a kumquat tree, do you want some kumquats?’
“For all the people who said I’m giving her gifts, I’m trying to bribe her for an interview, they were kumquats.”
The Duchess of Sussex has lavished praise on her mother in the past, describing her as her “best friend”, while she was the only member of Meghan’s family to attend her marriage to Harry.
Doria was also mentioned during her CBS talk with Oprah, where Meghan praised her for not speaking out in public, despite the “obsession” surrounding her family.
She recalled “you’ve never heard [Doria] say a word”, adding that her mother “remained in silent dignity for four years” as she watched her daughter struggle with the pressures of royal life.

As a result of the bombshell interview, reports have resurfaced regarding Doria’s comments regarding Harry and Meghan’s decision to cut ties with the Royal Family last year.
Citing a desire to lead a “financially independent” life, the couple moved away from their senior duties, and have since secured lucrative deals with Spotify and Netflix.
And Doria herself was “really worried” about Meghan, an insider claimed, and was “relieved that her daughter is putting her mental health and well being first”.
The friend told the Daily Mail that Meghan’s “plan all along” was to “eventually leave the UK and build her own empire with Harry”.

They added just after the split last year: “Doria is very much about being true to oneself and so of course she will continue to encourage Meghan to take the road less travelled.”
Harry himself is known to share a close bond with Doria, and reports last year claimed he even called his mother-in-law “mom”.
According to The Sun, another insider described Doria as “an absolute tower of strength” – “not just for Meghan but for Harry too”.
The source continued: “He obviously doesn’t have a mum whom he can turn to for advice but he has always been incredibly close to Doria and never more so than now.
“Harry has a huge amount of respect for her and for her judgement which is why he and Meghan have both spoken to her throughout about what they planned to do.”
They added: “She’s been the epitome of calmness throughout and both Meghan and Harry trust her and her judgement 100 percent.”
