Cameron began the conversation by expressing that she had presumed that everyone around her had known about her sexuality.

She stated that, prior to the story’s publishing, ‘I think I thought that I was out…I was sort of living my life as a queer girl and then woman.’

The Liv And Maddie actress also remarked that, as she was confident with who she was at the time, ‘I didn’t think it was necessary to come out in that way.’

The performer then noted that, following the story’s publishing, she became the focus of media attention, although she was focused on her own well-being.

‘When the Gay Times cover came out it was something that was so natural for me but it hit in a much bigger way,’ she said.

Cameron admitted that, following the story being made available to the public, she was initially overwhelmed by the response, although she has come to accept her situation.

‘I think it was a shock for me because I guess I thought the world kind of knew. That was a bit of an adjustment period, but it’s been really lovely,’ she noted.

The actress concluded by expressing that many of her fans reacted positively to the story, for which she was grateful.

‘People have been very kind, very supportive. My life feels a bit richer now, feels a bit more like 3D rather than 2D,’ she said.

Cameron originally spoke to Gay Times about her sexuality and remarked that she wanted to express her feelings through her music, as she used to take solace in various songs.

‘I hope, through that experience, my fans are learning how to do the same. I hope they celebrate themselves and it emboldens them,’ she noted.

The singer also told the media outlet that, although she was previously insecure, she eventually learned how to accept herself for who she was.

‘I was really nervous to come out and, one day, I dropped it because I was behaving like somebody who was out and I realized I wasn’t,’ she expressed.

Cameron concluded by telling the media outlet that her decision to become open about her sexuality was entirely her decision, and she felt much more self-confident as a result.

‘With the process of coming out, it was about who I am as a whole rather than who I choose to date…I’m choosing to love myself.’
