Speaking about the programme, Alex said: ‘This is probably one of the hardest things I have ever done. I knew it would be tough to film this documentary, speaking to young people and hearing their stories, that’s going to be triggering, but it was a lot harder than I ever thought.

The former Love Island star got candid about losing his brother, admitting: ‘We’re all living from moment to moment.’

‘Llyr, his one death has affected the lives of hundreds of people, forever. Me, my parents lives, they’ll never go back to what it was before.’

‘There’s 2,000 young people being referred to child and mental health services every day,’ he said.

‘We are in a crisis point with youth mental health, but there are solutions. One of the solutions is early support helps, resourcing and funding on mental health services.

Alex revealed its meaning explaining Llyr means god of the sea in Welsh, and that as children they used to play by the water.

He said: ‘I didn’t want to write his name directly, so I got something not quite so triggering – a simple wave.’

Taking to Instagram, Alex wrote: ‘This ones for you my boy. After losing Llŷr, I have wanted to pay a permanent tribute to him and what he means to me. I miss him every single day.’

Dr Alex: Our Young Mental Health Crisis airs on Sunday at 10:30pm on BBC One. Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
