Drivers to be hit by new number plate rule change which comes into effect from tomorrow

The new rule means drivers will need to display a ‘UK’ sticker when travelling abroad instead of the old style ‘GB’ logos. Drivers who already have a GB sticker on their vehicles have been told to “cover or remove it” before heading abroad.

“On hand to help ahead of the change come into force, Halfords are selling magnetic and non-magnetic stickers for £3.99 in-store and online.”

According to the RAC, the new sticker is thought to be a show of solidarity with Northern Ireland after Brexit.

The UK stands for the United Kingdom, which comprises Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Meanwhile, Great Britain only signifies England, Scotland and Wales.
