European Council President Charles Michel travelled to Warsaw to show the EU’s solidarity with Poland saying the crisis was “shameful and unacceptable”.

He said he believed it was a result of Alexander Lukashenko’s “quiet events” for Poland’s support of the Belarusian opposition.

During a press conference he said: “Sanctions are on the table. We must now co-ordinate with member states to identify most efficient tools”, he told the conference. “This hybrid attack against Poland and the EU must stop.”
