Everton confirm Carlo Ancelotti exit as Italian quits Toffees to rejoin Real Madrid

Shortly after it was rumoured that Ancelotti would leave Everton, it was reported that the club would look at Steven Gerrard as a successor.

The Liverpool icon has enjoyed a good start to his managerial career, having won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers in a brilliant unbeaten campaign.

He’s still under contract until 2024, however, and any move would be dependent on Gerrard putting his rivalry with the club to one side.

Other names linked with the newly-vacant post are David Moyes, Paulo Fonseca, Rafael Benitez, Erik Ten Hag and Roberto Martinez.
