Floyd Mayweather knocks out Mikuru Asakura in big money exhibition bout

Floyd Mayweather scored another knockout win at the Saitama Super Arena as he dropped and stopped Mikuru Asakura.

Four years after his dominant KO victory over Tenshin Nasukawa in the same arena, the 45-year-old produced another knockout in front of a packed Japanese crowd. Expectations of Mayweather’s fourth exhibition bout was a three-round schooling, however, with Asakura keen to impress the contest quickly developed into a firefight.

Asakura (16-3 pro MMA) came out of the gate looking to land punishing blows and even tagged TBE a couple of times. But Mayweather responded in kind with perfectly timed counters that snapped back the Japanese MMA star’s head.

At the end of the second round, the American delivered a looping right to Asakura’s chin that sent him tumbling to the canvas. Asakura tried to get to his feet but the southpaw wasn’t able to beat referee Kenny Bayless’ count.
