Furious row as thousands of Orange Order protesters take to streets –huge police crackdown

    This year is the 200th anniversary of Orange parades and the Battle of the Boyne, as Orange Lodge processions make their way through Glasgow.

    A visible and heavy police presence around the Easterhouse area was observed this morning.

    Yesterday, police forces had warned against any disruptive behaviour.

    Glasgow’s police chief, Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland, cautioned earlier this week: “Offensive behaviour, including hate crimes, drunkenness and disorder” would not be tolerated.”
