Sebastian Kalinowska, 15, was tortured for months at the hands of Agnieszka Kalinowska, 36, and Andrzej Latoszewski, 38, a steroid-addicted martial arts fan. The schoolboy was beaten repeatedly with a bed slat, whipped with cable and stabbed with spent hypodermic needles before he died after untreated multiple broken ribs led to sepsis and organ failure in August 2021.
Watching court proceedings from Poland, Sebastian’s father Jacek labelled his ex-wife “the greatest evil that walks this world”.
Much of the sickening abuse was captured on a CCTV camera system set up around the family home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, to “monitor and control” the boy. Three days before he died Latoszewski punched, kicked and throttled the teenager in a beating lasting over four hours.
Sentencing the evil duo, Mrs Justice Lambert DBE yesterday told them they must both serve a minimum of 39 years. They are likely to die behind bars. Leeds Crown Court heard his mother referred to Sebastian not by name, but as “piece of s***”.
Jurors sat through hours of “horrifying” footage during the trial.
In one 30-minute clip, Latoszewski was seen punching the boy over 100 times, pausing only to wipe sweat from his own face, while Kalinowska sat nearby watching TV and eating toast.
Kalinowska previously admitted child cruelty, while her twisted lover admitted manslaughter.
Both denied murder before a jury found them guilty in July.
Sebastian moved to the UK from his native Poland, where he lived with his father, in October 2020.
Ten months later, on August 13, he was filmed on the CCTV being taken out of the bedroom and carried back 15 minutes later, naked and unconscious.
The couple attempted CPR but didn’t call 999 for two-and-a-half hours. Cameras were taken down.
Sebastian was pronounced dead at the hospital and a post-mortem examination found he had suffered 81 injuries and 23 rib fractures during his final two weeks alive.
Social services have commissioned a review of the case.
