During the surgery, Lin became impatient with what she perceived as the residents’ incompetence. Webber offered her the job after the surgery but she turned it down, explaining that the residents were not at the level of expertise that she required.

Webber told her that the residents were burned out from the pandemic and had lost a year of their education. He assured her that he would fast-track their progress and she agreed to take the job.
