In an upcoming interview with Piers Morgan for his show Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer refused to give a straight answer on whether he has ever used drugs. Mr Morgan had to ask an astonishing 14 times before giving up on his attempts to get an answer. The show which airs on Tuesday, June 1 on ITV is the first time the Labour leader has appeared in front of a live audience.

Mr Morgan asked: “Given your clear reluctance to give me a straight, simple answer, am I right in assuming from your response that you have tried drugs but that you didn’t actually like them and didn’t want to take anymore?

The veteran journalist added: “I’m not saying it was your thing, but you did try it?

“I mean, you’re reluctant to just say yes. You haven’t said no.”

Sir Keir replied: “I haven’t said no.”
