Heidi Klum shares her struggle to use toilet in 'claustrophobic' Halloween worm costume

Heidi Klum, 49, always goes all out for Halloween but this year, mouths were hanging open as the normally immaculate supermodel transformed herself into a huge, grotesque worm. To make matters even crazier, she struggled even to get into the bathroom with her outfit.

Fans were initially confused when she arrived at her annual Halloween extravaganza completely unrecognisable, towering high above her husband as a larger than life worm.

Meanwhile, she confided the struggles she’d been having detaching herself from the “claustrophobic” outfit when it came to using the toilet.

“A lot of it has to come off,” she told Page Six on the night, before adding jokily: “When I gotta go [to the bathroom], I’ll have to de-strap and just make it happen somehow!”

She added: “It’s hard for me to move. I don’t really have arms or legs.

Anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of the real Heidi was not to be disappointed as she stripped off later in the night into a sheer bodystocking, which was embellished with crystals to maintain her modesty.

She kept her red and purple face makeup on, meaning she was still barely recognisable, but felt relieved not to be dragging her worm costume around for the entire evening.

The model, who has been crowned the “reigning Queen of Halloween” by Vogue for her increasingly jaw-dropping range of costumes over the years, has never been one to do spooky outfits by halves.

This outfit, like some of her previous creations, was the work of makeup artist Mike Marino and his team at Prosthetic Renaissance, which specialises in total transformations, no matter how ghoulish.

“No matter how crazy my ideas are, Mike brings them to life,” Heidi explained, adding her goal was to be as “creepy, gross and disgusting as possible”.

“I wanted to be Jessica Rabbit, and he said, ‘No problem.’ I wanted to be the werewolf from the Thriller video, and he said, ‘No problem.’ Clone me five times? ‘No problem,’” she told Vogue.

However the worm outfit, which had been in her mind for two years, wasn’t an outfit Mike had initially been keen to replicate – and at first, he tried to talk her out of it.

Eventually, he agreed to create a prosthetic shell, which encased both her arms and her legs completely, while a face piece was added to the outfit using special effects to camouflage her natural face.
