Holly dressed up for her big moment, stunning in a pink and red floral gown teamed with nude heels.

The mum-of-three wiggled her hips and flashed a huge smile while snapping the clapperboard as she readied herself to make her show debut.

She wrote alongside the clip: ‘Today is the day…@officialmidsomer… excitement levels off the chart!’

The post garnered several comments from fans wishing her the best, with Kelly Brook even writing: ‘Hope you last longer than I did’, referencing her brief cameo in the drama series in 2020, in which she was abruptly killed off in the first 60 seconds.

In March, Holly was left surprised by Midsomer Murders stars Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix during an appearance on This Morning when they asked if she wanted to be part of the show, as they knew she was a huge fan.

Her co-host Phillip Schofield mused that there was something she ‘didn’t know’ about the actor, 60, and his 36-year-old co-star’s visit, as they then said they wanted her to join the show.

Neil told Holly: ‘We’ve all had a big talk about who we want to appear on Midsomer, and we decided we want Holly Willoughby to appear in an episode of ‘Midsomer Murders’ very soon.

‘I’ve been speaking to people upstairs and they’ve been speaking to your people. Holly please, I am emboldened here to offer you a role in Midsomer Murders.’

Holly immediately shouted ‘yes’, and was overcome with emotions after receiving such exciting news.

She added: ‘I’ve seen every episode since it started way back when. Are you serious?I mean, you’re going to have to kill me off really quickly as I’m terrible at acting.’

Neil joked ‘that’s never held us back in Midsomer’, and teased that Holly will either be murdered or revealed as a killer herself – ‘or something’.

Although the duo couldn’t give away too many details about her upcoming role, they did promise she would have a substantial part in a future episode.

It seems Holly already has some ideas for how she could be killed off on the show – which first aired in 1997 – as she suggested: ‘Can I die by eating chocolate?

Because I saw an episode where somebody died by eating chocolate and I was like, “That’s the way to go.”‘

Nick said: ‘Yes, suggestions – if there’s a particular way that you want to go, we can do it.’

Midsomer Murders has been airing since 1997, Neil and Nick joined the show in 2011 after the departure of John Nettles as DCI Tom Barnaby.
