How Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and two other new Man Utd signings will fit into squad

    [ad_1]

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and retain an interest in Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier. There have also been links with centre-midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Declan Rice from Rennes and West Ham, respectively.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will likely stick with the 4-2-3-1 that served him so well last season as they finished second in the Premier League and reached the Europa League final, but could trial a 4-3-3 too. But how will the new signings fit into the Norwegian’s team?

    Raphael Varane

Since Harry Maguire signed for United from Leicester for £80million a couple of years ago, they have yet to find a solid partner for the England international.

It’s pretty clear that they need someone with pace, with Maguire not being the quickest, and Varane would definitely offer that.

The Frenchman, who has made over 200 appearances for Real Madrid, would add aerial ability, speed, and composure to the United defence, making him a superb addition as an almost guaranteed starting centre-half.

As well as having all the right attributes to fit into this Red Devils side, he has a winner’s mentality too, having won numerous league and Champions League titles in Spain.

    Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier has been heavily linked with United this summer.

Solskjaer is looking for someone to provide competition with Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.

Trippier is extremely versatile and, as well as being capable of playing full-back or wing-back on the right, he can play on the left too – as we saw for England at Euro 2020.

Having made numerous Champions League appearances for Atletico Madrid last season, along with his Premier League experience with Tottenham before his move to Spain, the 30-year-old would make a solid signing.

    Eduardo Camavinga/Declan Rice

Both Camavinga and Rice have been rumoured to be interesting United this summer, as they look for a partner for Paul Pogba in central midfield.

If they decide to sign Rennes midfielder Camavinga, there’s a chance that the 18-year-old might not be an instant starter, but will compete for a spot in midfield with Scott McTominay and Fred.

Rice, however, would be a more experienced option and would likely come in as an instant starter given he would cost big money.

The West Ham man would undoubtedly be the more expensive option of the two, which could have an impact on who United ultimately decide to sign.
