HYBPA: Brutal joke about The Voice coach Rita Ora's salary

The cast of Have You Been Paying Attention left viewers in hysterics over a brutal joke about The Voice Australia coaches Rita Ora and Jessica Mauboy on Monday night’s episode. 

During the show, the panel of comedians were asked to explain the context behind footage from a recent episode of The Voice in which Jessica was seen uncontrollably weeping after turning around her chair. 

‘What brought Jessica Mauboy to tears?’ quizmaster Tom Gleisner asked the panel.

‘She just saw that scene from Sex/Life,’ comedian Tony Martin joked, referring to the controversial full-frontal nude scene in popular Netflix drama Sex/Life. 

The panel burst into laughter, as Tom wryly replied: ‘She was focussing on the show I’m sure.’

Comedian Kate Langbroek was next to press her buzzer, responding: ‘She saw Rita Ora’s pay cheque.’ 

Her response was met with roars of laughter from the panel. 

Tom jokingly replied: ‘I wonder about the discrepancy there.’ 

While hilarious, Kate’s answer was clearly incorrect.

The real reason for Jessica’s overt display of emotion was because she’d just realised her niece was performing on-stage. 

Rita and Jessica are joined on The Voice’s celebrity coaching panel by Guy Sebastian and Keith Urban.  

Rita is arguably the most commercially successful coach on The Voice this season, and reportedly pocketed a seven-figure salary for her time. 

However, it is unknown whether the British star was paid more than her cohorts for the high-profile gig.
