Australia’s leader Scott Morrison has clashed with Boris Johnson’s Government maid claims that key climate commitments were dropped from the UK-Australia trade deal. Faced with questions on the post-Brexit deal, Mr Morrison stressed that during negotiation trade and climate concerns had been kept separate. He told a press conference on Thursday that “I do trade agreements I deal with trade issues.”
Mr Morrison responded: “Well it was about trade it wasn’t a climate agreement it was about trade.
“I do trade agreements and in trade agreements, I deal with trade issues,” he added.
“In climate agreements, I deal with climate issues.”
Sky’s Sam Coates added the problem with Mr Morrison’s statement was that it was “completely different” to the UK Government’s version of events.
