Indian variant surges: Matt Hancock sounds alarm as Covid cases ‘rising’ -June 21 on brink

    Three quarters of new cases of the virus are from the mutant strain which was imported to the UK earlier this year the Health Secretary warned at a televised coronavirus briefing from Downing Street.

    The seven day average for cases of the virus has risen 20.5 percent over the past week with 3,542 new cases registered today.

    The worrying new data risks delaying Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown.
