    ‘It’s not great!’: Corrie real-life couple Sally Carman and Joe Duttine postpone wedding due to pandemic

    Coronation Street stars and real-life couple, Sally Carman and Joe Duttine, have been forced to postpone their wedding due to the pandemic. 

    The former Shameless actress, 40, and her soap star fiancé, 50, announced their engagement last year but have made the joint decision to put their nuptials on hold for one year.

    Speaking on Loose Women on Friday, she confirmed that coronavirus restrictions –  preventing mass gatherings at weddings – have impacted their decision to delay the big day.

    Sally said: ‘I’m not quite sure where we’re gonna be in December, the way things have been dealt with so I didn’t want to risk arranging a wedding.

    ‘We want to have a party – so if there’s 15 people allowed to come, it’s not great really.

    ‘So we thought that it was best if we defer it for a year, and hopefully get the wedding that we want.’

    Current rules allow up to 30 people, including children, to attend a wedding ceremony or reception.

    Venues or worship locations are allowed to provide food and drink, but it must be consumed by guests when they are seated. All wedding staff are required to wear face masks. 

    The Coronation Street stars revealed they became engaged during the COVID-19 lockdown last March on social media. 

    The soap couple announced the exciting news on Twitter, with Joe joking that coronavirus can ‘f**k off.’ 

    Tweeting a snap of Sally’s sparkling new engagement ring Joe captioned the post: ‘She said yes everyone, convid 19 can f**k off…’

    Noting his spelling mistake he then added: ”Convid, covid, whuteva.’ 

    Sally later re-tweeted the post with the simple caption: ‘I did’ along with a love heart emoji.’

    She also confirmed the exciting news on Instagram, sharing a snap with the caption: ‘So this happened… #yes.’

    In another snap, Sally and Joe toasted champagne, with the post captioned: ‘We’ve got each other.’

    The duo were first pictured together in August 2018, and moved in together in November 2019. 

    Joe joined Corrie first in 2013 as Tim, the biological father of Faye Windass, with his earlier storylines often focusing on his relationship with her adoptive family.

    Sally, who is also known for starring as Kelly Maguire in Shameless, made her first appearance on the soap in 2017 when she was introduced as the mother of Seb Franklin.
