Jack Grealish transfer saga highlights major Man Utd and Man City change

The two Manchester teams were battling it out for Alexis Sanchez in 2018, a transfer pursuit that was eventually won by United after City backed out due to the Chilean’s extortionate wage demands and the potential unrest this could cause within the squad.

A similar scenario unfolded in the 2019 summer transfer window as the Sky Blues walked away from a deal for Harry Maguire due to Leicester City’s high demands, again paving the way for the Red Devils to take advantage.

On this occasion, it seems as though Guardiola’s side are not prepared to miss out on such a high-prolife signing and will pay the necessary amount to get a deal over the line.

It seems unlikely that United will be able to swoop in and hijack City’s transfer plans this time around as Solskjaer’s side have, too, changed their approach.

The summer signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane have marked an impressive start to the window for Solskjaer, who has attracted world-class talent to Old Trafford without involving other teams in a transfer chase.

United appear to be operating in a more assured and professional manner, which has ensured there has been no need to hijack transfer targets of close rivals in somewhat desperate fashion.

City are on the verge of getting the better of United should Grealish sign, though United have their own plans and are quietly going about their business.
