Jake Gyllenhaal’s friend Andrew Burnap thinks he may have the scarf referenced in Taylor Swift’s song All Too Well

Broadway actor Andrew Burnap thinks he may have the scarf referenced in the new Taylor Swift song widely believed to be about his friend Jake Gyllenhaal, All Too Well.

In the intro of the 10-minute long song, Taylor sings about how a scarf she owned is now in the drawer of an unidentified individual, whom many have interpreted to be Jake.

But Andrew, who worked with Jake on Broadway, thinks he may be the one with the accessory.

‘this is gonna sound crazy and you will definitely think i’m kidding but i’m not – i think i am in possession of that scarf,’ the Tony Award-winning actor tweeted on Friday.

All Too Well opens with the lyrics, ‘I walked through the door with you, the air was cold, but something about it felt like home somehow, and I, left my scarf there at your sister’s house, and you’ve still got it in your drawer even now.’

Jake used to run lines with Andrew, and the two competed for the Tony for Best Performance By A Leading Actor In A Play, which went to Burnap for his role in The Inheritance.

‘Did I want to win? Sure. But I don’t really. I was so… I know Andrew, who won. The kid who won. I mean, the great thing about him, he used to help me run lines. He used to come to my office and help me run lines for a couple things,’ Jake said on The Howard Stern Show in October. ‘It was amazing. When he went up, I threw my arms around him. I was so excited for him.’

All Too Well was originally released as part of Taylor’s 2012 album Red, but an extended version was released on Thursday.

Although fans have long speculated that the song was written about Jake, he and Taylor had a surprisingly short-lived romance.

The two only dated from October through December of 2010.

Although Taylor has never confirmed that the song is about the Donnie Darko star, she delved into her tortured mental state when she wrote it during a Tonight Show appearance on Thursday.

‘I showed up for rehearsals and I just was really upset, and sad, and everybody could tell, it was really, like, not fun to be around me that day,’ Taylor explained to host Jimmy Fallon.

‘So I started playing guitar and just kind of playing the same four chords over and over again.
