Jason Momoa reveals one specific scene in Dune was a nod to his son Nakoa-Wolf

    While more and more fans flock to theaters to see Dune in the coming weeks, they’ll see Jason Momoa offering a unique nod to his son, Nakoa-Wolf, 12.

    The 42-year-old actor shares two kids with wife Lisa Bonet, Nakoa-Wolf and 14-year-old daughter Lola Iolani.

    The he actor revealed in a new IndieWire interview that one particular scene he made a specific motion that was aimed at his son.

    Momoa plays Duncan Idaho, the swordmaster for House Atreides, who is sworn to protect Duke Leto Atreides and mentor his son Paul (Timothee Chalamet).

    While the actor is no stranger to action scenes, having played Aquaman in several DC movies, he revealed the training was a bit different for Dune.

    ‘We had to fight numerous people, so a lot of training went into that last battle scene,’ he said, referring to the scene where he had to battle the minions of the evil House Harkonnen.

    ‘We did a bunch of stuff like Kali. I never really learned that. My son does that. There’s definitely these intimate moments where I’m signaling to my son,’ Momoa added.

    ‘That’s a Kali move, where you put your hand on your heart and put it on your head. That’s to Timothée in the movie, but that’s to my son in real life,’ the actor said.

    Momoa also revealed that when he first heard about the role, he was literally on the top of a mountain with his best friend.

    ‘I got a call from my agent literally on top of a mountain, and I was shocked, and he was like, “Denis Villeneuve wants to talk to you right now. I thought it was a prank,’ Momoa said. 

    ‘He said, “He wants to talk to you. He wants you for a role. He won’t tell anyone what it is,”‘ Momoa added.

    He said him and his best friend, ‘ran down the mountain, into the room, FaceTimed him, and he had everything laid out.’

    ‘He had this whole department there in costume. Everyone was staring at me, and he had a whole book. It was this manifest. Pictures, everything. It was almost like he was pitching it to me, and I was taken aback. He asked if I would play Duncan. That’s never happened before,’ Momoa said.

    Warner Bros. recently revealed this week that they have greenlit the sequel to Dune, though no production specifics or release details were given.

    Momoa is currently filming his DC sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and he’s also attached to star in a reboot of Cliffhanger.
