‘He thought I was in the Spice Girls!’ Jesy Nelson reveals P Diddy appeared in her Boyz music video after inaccurately identifying her as a member of the nineties girlband

Jesy Nelson has joked that P Diddy appeared in her debut music video after mistakeable identifying her as a member of the Spice Girls.

The singer, 30, quipped during Friday night’s appearance on The Graham Norton Show that the rapper, 51, thought she had lent her vocals to tracks such as Wannabe and Say You’ll be There.

When asked how the record producer came to be in her video, she said: ‘From the moment I wrote the song I knew I wanted him in it.

‘He heard the song and loved it and then said he would be in the video. I feel like he definitely thought I was in the Spice Girls!’

The Spice Girls – comprising of Melanie Chisholm, Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown – have sold more than 90 million records around the globe.

They released three studio albums and 11 singles and won a host of awards including a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music.

Jesy sampled Diddy’s hit anthem Bad Boys 4 Life and remade the iconic music video.

It seems he had done his research by the time filming commenced as he made a joke about her departure from Little Mix during his cameo.

In the direct copy of Diddy’s 2001 video, she spoofed the moment Diddy is confronted by Ben Stiller – who jokes about the rapper’s many monikers – Puff Daddy, P Diddy and Sean Combs.

For Jesy’s version, Diddy called the X Factor winner: ‘Jeezy, Jesy, Little Mix, whatever y’all calling yourself these days’.

Elsewhere in the video – which was filmed in Edgware, north London – Jesy stripped down to a bikini and snacked on sushi before slipping into a tiny tennis skirt and chunky platform heels.

The Woman Like Me hitmaker announced her departure from Little Mix one year after filming a BBC documentary Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out, in which she revealed she had attempted to take her own life after years of relentless trolling and abuse.

While she has spoken now about her relief at being free of comparisons from the other girls, Little Mix have continued as a threesome.

Jesy explained that the pressure of being compared to ‘these three naturally gorgeous, super teeny-tiny girls’ was crippling.
