Joan Collins says Pamela Anderson looked like 'a hooker on holiday' at the 2001 Oscars afterparty

Joan Collins likens Pamela Anderson to ‘a hooker on holiday’ in her new book My Unapologetic Diaries.

The actress, 88, doesn’t mince her words in the new memoir as she remembered an outfit the Baywatch star, 54, wore to the Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2001.

Speaking on Thursday’s episode of This Morning, Joan explained she made the comment as a note in her diary entry and it was simply how she felt at the time.

She said: ‘I did say all these things. They were on the spot feelings and attitudes. One person, I got a report that one of the royals was offended by what I said about him.

‘It was reported to me by someone else by someone who was a royal who said he was one of the most boring members of the royal family so I wrote that.

‘Everyone is so terrified of saying the wrong thing today. If people don’t like it, that’s sad. I’ve had rotten things said about me, much worse than what I’ve said about Pamela Anderson.’

The outfit in question was a white shirt tied at the waist along with a dark denim mini skirt  with black leather boots and a pair of sunglasses.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Pamela Anderson for comment.

Elsewhere in her book, Joan writes about how she struggled to find work after finishing her role as Alexis Colby on Dynasty as she became so associated with the villainess character.

Explaining her book, she said: ‘It started in the dressing room at Dynasty where I’d spent nine years where I thought, I’ll write about this. I said, here’s where I’ve been for nine years, it’s goodbye Dynasty and hello West End and Private Lives.

‘It’s about people who hit the highest spots of celebrity-dom and then find themselves plummeting down.

‘I was a big television star and I don’t want to do another series, I’ll go back to theatre and be inundated with offers. Well hello, I wasn’t. Everyone thought I was Alexis, this vicious, nasty character. There’s a lot of stories in there about resilience.’

Joan also recalled how she was paid less on Dynasty than her male co-star John Forsythe, until she asked they be paid the same.

However, this ended up backfiring on the star as she told how the show bosses then cut her appearances down because they could no longer ‘afford’ her.

She said: ‘First day of the last season, they came in and said, “So Joan, sorry about this but instead of being in 20 episodes, you’re only going to be in 10. “

‘I said, “Why, I just got a raise?” and they said, “We can’t afford you.”

‘It’s much much better now but there was a time as a pretty young girl you couldn’t walk down the office without being pinched or come up to my office and we’ll talk about your next film.’

When Joan told This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby she would know what that was like, Holly replied: ‘Well, no, it’s because of people like you who made it easier for people like me starting out so thank you for that.’

Joan also recalls meeting Princess Diana in the book, saying: ‘She came to Private Lives, she was always so charming and sweet and vulnerable.

‘I have letters from her because she had one of my beauty books. She didn’t need it because she was so beautiful.’
