Joe Biden’s ‘sweet tooth’ detailed by insider – ‘Has the tastes of a 5-year-old’

The US President’s daily routine sees him start his mornings by lifting weights and watching news, but an advisor said Mr Biden has also stocked the Oval Office with sweet snacks.

According to one of seven advisors interviewed about Mr Biden’s daily routine, the President enjoys orange Gatorade and chocolate chip cookies.

One long-time advisor to the President stated: “He has the tastes of a 5-year-old.”

Mr Biden has also been said to have had the outer Oval Office stocked with individually wrapped chocolate chip cookies and salt water taffy.

Some of the sweets are from Dolle’s, a boardwalk shop in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where the President has a vacation home.

Others interviewed by The Washington Post say the oldest ever President, 79 years old, looks after his health.

Aides also described the President as a “night owl” as he prefers later briefings.

He usually returns to the White House residence around 6-7pm for dinner with wife Jill Biden, before carrying out late-night calls with advisers.

Democratic Senator Chris Coons, a long-time Biden confidant, said to the publication: “He will never say, ‘I’m in the middle of something important right now — can I call you back?’

“He will never let it go to voicemail.”

Interviews with Mr Biden’s aides also saw some tell The Post that the President will call his son Hunter every night before he goes to bed.

The President’s son has battled for years with drug and alcohol addiction.

If Hunter does not answer the call, sources told The Post that Mr Biden will text him.

The Post also reported that once a week Mr Biden will eat lunch with his Vice President, Kamala Harris, following a pattern he established with Barack Obama.

Jen Psaki, White House press secretary, would not confirm details of the President’s exercise regime during her briefing on Monday, but joked that it is “sometimes hard to keep up with him”, referring to his stamina.

    DON’T MISS…

Mr Biden’s health has been the subject of concern or attacks from political opponents, including former President Donald Trump.

Earlier this month, an open letter signed by 124 retired US military officers said “the mental and physical condition of the Commander in Chief cannot be ignored”.

Flag Officers 4 America, an organisation of former generals and admirals, added: “He must be able to quickly make accurate national security decisions involving life and limb anywhere, day or night.”

Hillary Clinton, former Democrat nominee for President in 2016, said the letter was “bizarre, shameful, and untrue”.
