The Office star John Krasinski has spoken candidly about what it was like working with his actress wife Emily Blunt on their hit horror film series, A Quiet Place.
After an advance screening of the film’s second installment last week in Sydney, aptly called A Quiet Place Part II, John spoke to his Australian fans in an intimate Q&A via a live cross from the US.
The 41-year-old, who made a brief appearance in the second film and who directed the flick, had nothing but praise for his British wife, 38, and said he found ‘the best collaborator of his entire life.’
‘I found the best collaborator of my entire life’: John Krasinski gushed over wife Emily Blunt last week during a Q&A with Australian fans, as they celebrate the release of A Quiet Place Part II
In the films, the pair play husband and wife Lee and Evelyn Abbott who are bravely trying to protect their family and children amid a world filled with terrifying creatures that are super sensitive to sound.
John’s character died in the first film.
He joked about working with Emily: ‘It’s funny, everybody was wondering how it would go working with your spouse and so were we, we were very excited to see how that would go and by excited, I mean terrified.’

John then went on to gush about Emily, saying that they work well together and she’s nothing but professional on set.
‘So on the first one, I found the best collaborator of my entire life,’ he sweetly said.
‘She’s not only the best actress but she’s someone who comes on set and who puts everyone at ease because she’s so unbelievably prepared, so unbelievably professional and cares so deeply about the entire process, she knows the whole system, so it was almost like she was a producer on the movie.’

He said that even on days where she didn’t have to film a scene, she’d be down on set and by his side ‘cheering’ the cast and crew on.
John added: ‘She is without a doubt, not only the best actress I have or will work with, but she’s the greatest collaborator I’ve ever had.’
In the second film, without giving too much away, the pair’s onscreen children learn to be brave amid their horrifying new world.
John said that he hopes his and Emily’s children can one day grow up to be fearless and ‘bold.’
‘If the first one [film] is a love letter to my kids, the second is a letter to what I hope my kids might one day be, which is just bold and to commit to whatever they believe in wholeheartedly,’ he said.
He then went on to thank fans for supporting the films and going to the theatre, especially amid the coronavirus pandemic.
‘There’s something communal by going to the movies,’ he said.
Awkward! In March, John jokingly told Live with Kelly and Ryan that he put his ‘marriage on the line’ while making the second film due to one particularly intense car scene. ‘I was explaining to her all the things that are going to happen, like, “you’re going to hit this pedestrian and then these cars are going to cut you off. And then a bus is going to come at you at 40mph”
In March, John jokingly told Live with Kelly and Ryan that he put his ‘marriage on the line’ while making the second film due to one particularly intense scene.
‘There’s a scene where I put her in a car and—if you saw it in the trailer—she’s driving up the street,’ he explained.
‘And I realised as I was explaining to her all the things that are going to happen, like, “you’re going to hit this pedestrian and then these cars are going to cut you off. And then a bus is going to come at you at 40mph.”
‘That’s all happening to her. And I realised, “Oh, my God. I just put my marriage on the line. I might end my marriage in this shot,” he said with a laugh.
‘She’s not going to be psyched if that bus hits her and luckily it didn’t. The first take is in the movie… so that’s what Emily Blunt actually looks like terrified,’ he said, saying Emily wanted to skip the rehearsal so that her reactions in the scene were ‘real.’
A Quiet Place Part II also stars Cillian Murphy, who is well known for his portrayal of British gangster Tommy Shelby in the hit BBC drama series, Peaky Blinders.
The first film in the series was a hit with critics and a massive success for Paramount.
It was the studio’s second highest-grossing film of 2018 with $341 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
A Quiet Place II hits theatres across Australia on May 27.
