Katherine Jenkins dazzles in a blue ballgown before slipping into a red number on stage in Southend

    She’s no stranger to cutting a glamorous figure when putting on a show-stopping performance. 

    And Katherine Jenkins wowed once again as she donned a dazzling blue ballgown as she took to the stage for the first night of her UK tour at Cliffs Pavillion in Southend on Monday.

    The singer, 41, also slipped into a sensational; red number as she belted out a plethora of her tracks to a sold-out crowd.

    Katherine looked incredible in her one-shouldered blue gown by Suzanne Neville, which was cinched in at the waist, highlighting her amazing figure.

    The mezzo-soprano also stole the show in a billowing red gown, also by the designer, which featured a glittering embellished collar and belt. 

    Katherine further upped the glam with silver drop earrings while her blonde locks were worn in soft waves which cascaded over her shoulders. 

    The star’s live shows follow on from her successful lockdown concerts.

    Katherine had been performing her online concerts every two weeks to make up for the fact that her live shows were cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. 

    While last summer, she also sang for care home residents live from her garden.

    Following her performance, Katherine shared a snap of herself backstage on Instagram, alongside the message: ‘Well that first one flew by in a flash! 

    ‘Thank you Cliffs Pavillion Southend for having me back again and hosting the opening night of my tour. Next up Llandudno (where I’ definitely going to have fish and chips!), Cardiff and Southampton. See you then.’

    In September, Katherine took Instagram to wish her husband Andrew Levitas a happy anniversary, insisting that there were ‘definitely no signs of the seven year itch’ in the caption. 

    The star posted the photo to her grid which showed the couple looking very glamorous, with Andrew, 44, donning a shirt and a bow tie and Katherine wearing a full face of make up. 

    She wrote in the caption: ‘Definitely no signs of the seven year itch! Happy Anniversary to my favourite person, best friend and beyond gorgeous husband @andrewlevitas – I don’t want to be anywhere else than by your side. ICYH’

    The pair tied the knot back in 2014 at Hampton Court and the mezzo soprano wore a traditional white gown by Suzanne Neville.

    The American artist and Katherine share two children together Aaliyah Reign, five, and Xander Robert, three. 

    The adoring post comes after the accomplished songstress was presented with the prestigious Fellow Of The Royal Academy Of Music award back in July. 

    The mezzo-soprano was presented with the prestigious Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music (FRAM) award – given to those who have contributed significantly to the music profession or to the Academy.

    George Chambers, the Head Of Communications at the Royal Academy Of Music said: ‘With 14 number one albums and the biggest record deal in classical music history to her name, Katherine joins our illustrious group of former students from across the whole profession – including Sir Simon Rattle and Sir Elton John.’ 

    He continued: ‘By awarding this fellowship, we celebrate Katherine’s many achievements and her extraordinary work bringing music to the widest possible audience.’ 

    Katherine won a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music at age 17 and graduated with honours.

    She then went on to perform at a mass which honoured the Pope’s silver jubilee at Westminster Cathedral in 2003.

    Now, she is the biggest selling Classical Artist of the Century – selling over 2.6 million albums.

    Katherine is an avid activist for the arts community, speaking about the lack of support from the government in the entertainment industry during the pandemic on Emma Forbes podcast last year.
